This is a very interesting article about the speculation Microsoft is going to make a low cost surface device with a competitive price point to compete with Google Chromebooks in order to get into the education market. This will be unveiled May 2nd under the Windows 10 Cloud Machine brand.
Skeptical...Microsoft first generation products are always a bit underwhelming so I am keeping my expectations low. Longer term, lets say in three years we will have a disruption, mostly because Microsoft will create a premium product in its second and third generation of a device and hardware manufactures will be innovating in the space as well with low cost devices. If Microsoft wants to compete with schools then Google Apps for Education is the platform to compete on and this may not be as hard in today's world than it may have been in the past. These applications will not require a major re-write as a barrier, it will be interesting to see where Microsoft takes this. Tell me what you think, here is the article!
